Project 365 Day 34: Snow Castle

I absolutely love snow, so the excitement to come back for Christmas after 7 years was quite intense. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a white Christmas, but mother nature decided to treat me with a white goodbye, and a 3 hour delay! I hope you enjoy this shot, one of my favourite spots in Hamilton.

Project 365 Day 32: Happy New Year

A new year has arrived and what better way than starting it with a bang at city hall at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto. Happy new year! And to finish the night and kickstart an amazing year to come the right way, a little stop at This Ain’t Hollywood, one of my favourite live music venues in Hamilton. I can only imagine how great this party was, judging by the ambiance that went late into the night. The Life of the Party

Project 365 Day 30: Ice Cold

It’s starting to get colder in Southern Ontario, ice cold! After two weeks, the temperature finally dropped below zero, bringing with it the snow! So what better way to welcome it than with some good old fashioned ice skating.

Project 365 Day 29: Burn Baby Burn

Hamilton has long been known as the Steel City because of its enormous steel production in the East end by companies such as Dofasco, Stelco and Nation Steel Car, and now US Steel.

Project 365 Day 25: Hansel & Gretel

Christmas Day means building a pepperkaker hus (gingerbread house). After all that fun, Sky is ready to dig in. But will the witch let him or will he end up in her cauldron?

Project 365 Day 17: No Parking

Being in Europe for the last 7 years, I forgot how popular seat scooters are here in North America. This specific one, about 60 cm wide, not only is gigantic but is clearly parked under the No Parking sign. I like the composition of the lady on the phone and this scooter, a transportation vehicle out of convenience and not necessity, parked illegally at Giant Tiger on Cannon and Hughson Streets.

Project 365 Day 16: Hammer City Records

I had read about Hammer City Records a year or so ago, so I was quite excited to come back to Hamilton and check it out. It’s a fantastic store, run by three people, Bret being one of them. I went in looking for a Joy Division record, but ended up finding a Warsaw bootleg that is fantastic. The experience is fantastic, listening and chit chatting, even with a Pabst to go quench my thirst. This is a must see, just off of James Street North on Robert Street. They even silk screen their own paper shopping bags!
